    The Indo European Water Partnership

At the 13th EU-India Summit in Brussels on 30th March 2016, the India-EU Water Partnership (IEWP) was officially launched. The IEWP aims to strengthen technological, scientific and management capabilities of India and the EU in the field of water management. The implementation of the IEWP will bring together interested EU Member States and Indian States, European and Indian institutions, businesses and civil society, opening up opportunities for exchange of views on regulatory approaches, best practices, business solutions and research and innovation opportunities in the water field in India and Europe, taking into account lessons learnt in the implementation of the EU’s water policy.

Project Objectives:

  • Facilitate cooperation between India and a flexible coalition of EU Member States on water-related issues of mutual interest by further developing the IEWP and foster business opportunities for EU companies having the technical know-how to contribute in improving the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of water management in India
  • Fostering business opportunities for EU companies who have the technical know-how to contribute in improving the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of water management in India

Project Vision: Strengthening the collaboration between India and the EU in all water-related matters, specifically in the identified priority areas such as: River basin management and water governance, E-flows, River rejuvenation, restoration, Groundwater use and recharge, Water use in irrigation, Solar Pumping for Irrigation, Capacity Building, Blueprint for water accounting in India, Collaboration in research, innovation and technology.

EU-Business Opportunity:

  • Building up a dedicated knowledge exchange platform and thereby provide European technology solutions
  • Matchmaking and business contacts from EU companies with Indian partner firms that can offer relevant solutions for the water sector
